Stage 1 of the competition is an unsupervised Online Assessment which you take at home. This includes

Stage 2 is a repeat of Stage 1 in a supervised environment at the PAS Offices in Middle Abbey Street, Dublin. Stage 2 is made up of the following assessments:
- Re-test of Aptitude Tests undertaken in the first stage
- Job Simulation Exercises
- Report Writing

Stage 3 is a formal Competency Based Interview. Your interview will largely focus on the content in your application form. It is an examination of five competencies. These are Judgement & Decision Making, Resilience, Delivery of Results, Interpersonal Skills, and Motivation to be a Garda. GardaIP will coach you on how to best match your experience against each competency. We will tailor your examples and match your experience against each competency in a structured and easy to understand format.
Stage 4 is the Garda Medical examination.
Stage 5 is the Physical Competence examination.
